Drama over Zimbabwean fitness model, Moana's burial

Drama over Zimbabwean fitness model, Moana's burial

Mitchelle Amuli popularly known as Mimi Moana is a fitness model, video vixen, the birthday girl and celebrant who lost her life in the late Ginimbi's Rolls Royce Wraith ghastly accident together with 3 other passengers. They were involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit along Borrowdale road, Harare, Zimbabwe early hours of 8th November, 2020 on their way from Dreams Nightclub where Moana celebrated her 26th birthday back to Ginimbi's Damboshava mansion. After the head-on collison, the car veered off the road hit a tree and caught fire. People around the accident scene were able to rescue Ginimbi before the car exploded and bursted into flames. The other people involved in the car crash include: Limumba Karim who was an alleged Malawian fugitive in the middle of trial for $2.6 million cash gate where he was one of the money laundry suspects since 2015. Alichia Adams was a Mozambican model, brand strategist and entrepreneur.

Ever since the horrific accident, there had been lots of drama trailing Moana's death. The burial was  delayed due to Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test which was very necessary for the identification of her corpse. Immediately the accident occurred, the passers-by were able to rescue Ginimbi alive but unfortunately he gave up to the ghost after a couple of minutes before his Rolls Royce Wraith exploded. Moana and others were burnt beyond recognition because they were trapped in the back seat hence the reason for a DNA test to identify their bodies. However, Moana's father revealed that he was not informed about DNA test. According to him, Moana had been living him until 2 years ago when she left his house because he slapped her for venturing into socialite's lifestyle. He was not in support of her modelling career saying that it is against his religious beliefs as a muslim and the way he had brought her up.

Moana's parents had been divorced long, she grew up with her father and step-mother since the age of 18 months following her abandonment by her biological mother, Yolanda. Her father, Mr. Ishamel Amuli stopped her burial plans because Moana's mother and her family wanted to bury Moana according to Christian rites without his consent. A church service and funeral wake that were scheduled had to be cancelled as her father stood his grounds and decided to leave with the court order. This family feud has disrupted the burial arrangement organised by Dove funeral home who had announced that Moana will be buried at Zororo memorial park, Chitungwiza.

Due to all these series of events, the internet had tagged Moana a "slay queen" who lived a life different from her parents. According to Urban dictionary online; slay queens are girls who do not have a wealthy background but appear as if they do. They use malicious acts to attain cash, drink expensive alcohol, procure expensive cellphones but back home they are chicken chasers. And her sister Tendai has shut down the rumours saying that Moana was a fitness bunny with around 115,000 followers on Instagram which is clear that she had worked hard to support her 7 year old daughter, Tyra and her family. She also said that her sister who was already engaged seemed to be pregnant at the time of her death and that her fiance warned her not to go out with Ginimbi before the accident that claimed her life and that of 3 others.

So far, the social media fitness influencer, Moana's death has been characterised with drama which has played out from the moment of her death till now. Rumours had it that her family has allegedly asked for further $5,000 to help meet her funeral costs from Ginimbi's family after they had initially given $3,000 plus food and drinks to Moana's family for her burial.
